Squash SA is pleased to announce a partnership with Australia’s leading squash store, Squash.com.au where volunteers at South Australian affiliated squash clubs receive the recognition and support they deserve.
The Squash SA Volunteer Recognition Program with Squash.com.au will be the first step toward retaining and valuing key volunteers in a larger strategy towards resourcing and strengthening club committees into the future.
The announcement was made at the recent 2024 Squash SA awards dinner. Steve Walton from Squash.com.au who presented the Service to Squash & Racquetball awards was genuinely excited to partner with Squash SA.
“We are really pleased to be involved in this fantastic initiative by Squash SA. Volunteers are critical at so many levels of our sport and as we head into the Olympic Years, they will become more important than ever before. We need to encourage more people to step into this space and I hope that this recognition goes someway to achieving this.”
Steve, originally from Adelaide was introduced to the game by a volunteer at a local club and knows that without volunteers and strong clubs, squash and racquetball wouldn’t survive.
In addition to the focus on resourcing and rewarding volunteers www.squash.com.au are also making an offer to all Squash SA affiliated players which will be revealed in July and available on the Squash SA “Partnerships & Member Benefits” page on our website.
James Rogers, Squash SA General Manager is pleased to be able to offer volunteers more. “Squash SA will be working closer with clubs and their volunteers in the future in an effort to increase access and the promotion of our sports. I’m really happy to have our relationship with Squash.com.au cemented in a meaningful program.”
Clubs will soon be contacted to nominate their most valued volunteers to receive $200 vouchers to the online Squash.com.au store, plus a specially made shirt to value their contribution and be recognised.
