Why is The Southern being renovated?
The Southern is the largest asset owned by the SRASA & the predominant income source that supports Squash & Racquetball in South Australia. This income source was at risk due to underinvestment into the venue. The renovation serves to secure income to continue to support Squash & Racquetball though casual coaches, tournament management, coach & referee development, club support grant and elite player development.
Who is carrying out the refurbishment at The Southern?
The design work was completed through Stallard Meek Flightpath Architects and on-site works are being completed through Elite Building.
How long will it take to refurbish The Southern?
The refurbishment started in mid-September and over two build phases, is scheduled to be completed by mid-December.
Where can I find out more information about the refurbishment?
Updates will be shared monthly for the 3-month expected duration of the build through Facebook, eNewsletter and on this webpage.
Will The Southern stop trading during the refurbishment?
Careful planning and budgeting will allow The Southern to continue trading throughout the duration of the refurbishment, however there will be a short period of time where the bistro and sports bar areas will be closed whilst these spaces are under refurbishment.
Will Squash SA have a formal relaunch of The Southern?
There will be a “Re-Opening” celebration and associated marketing throughout the community to maximise the new feel and opportunities the refurbishment will bring.

Do squash SA Members get a discount at The Southern?
Squash SA affiliated players receive a discount on selected meals during the dinner service at The Southern. Please contact the venue on 8277 4922 to enquire.
